About Donegal School District

The Donegal School District is in northwestern Lancaster County. It is comprised of Marietta and Mount Joy Boroughs, East Donegal Township and approximately one-third of Mount Joy Township. Donegal School District is very desirable for commuters. The location is close to Lancaster, York, Harrisburg, and Hershey.

It straddles the train line from Harrisburg to Philadelphia. Its close proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Baltimore (90 miles) and Philadelphia (85 miles) adds to the area’s desirability. The beautiful rolling hills and farmland, as well as the small-town atmosphere, have attracted an increasing number of families.

Donegal School District staff is working together to ensure that our students have a quality learning environment as well as rigorous academic instruction. We have been working together to ensure that every child gains the education he/she needs. Education to be successful in our ever-changing world. In the recent past, the elementary staff has met the challenge of implementing a rigorous mathematics program. Our secondary math teachers are ready to begin a new program this year. We are excited about the potential of our students and our entire staff working together to extend their learning in all subject areas.

Success has also come in extracurricular areas. Drama productions include many of our secondary students. The community enjoys the talents of the actors. As well as the efforts of our stage crews and technicians. Athletic teams had a banner year and earned a P.I.A.A. State Championship in girls’ soccer. Lancaster League Championships in field hockey, softball, and baseball, and several of our track athletes were P.I.A.A. state medalists. Several middle school students, under the direction of our technology department, placed 9th in the nation in the Formula 1 competition. The Marching Band continues to compete successfully in the Atlantic Coast Conference. These are only a few of the accomplishments of our students.

We believe that the Donegal School District, with the ongoing support of our community, will continue to offer the personalized education that is our hallmark.
