Lancaster County’s Best Kept Secrets Tour
It’s a great way to get a behind-the-scenes peek into 40 businesses in Lancaster County, PA. In addition, each business is off the beaten path, so you’ll get a different take on Lancaster, even if you’re a local. Tickets are only $10, and $1 from each ticket is donated to a local charity. Visit as many tour stops as you like over a period of 16 days. Also, stops are a secret. It’s in the name, wink, wink–but are guaranteed to be a hit. Grab a bite to eat at an unnamed farmer’s market, chocolatier, creamery, or winery. Pick up a gift at an antique shop, a farm, a garden shop, a wood shop, or a museum gift shop. These are just a few examples of the Best Kept Secrets on the tour.
Local Arts Scene
Take in the local arts scene on the First Friday in Lancaster City on April 5. This monthly event highlights the arts and entertainment available in downtown Lancaster, PA. Art galleries, studios, museums, shops, and restaurants stay open late on the first Friday of the month. Take a walk, eat at a local restaurant, and enjoy the thriving arts scene through a live performance or a gallery showing. Similar events are held on the first Friday in Mount Gretna, the second Friday in Elizabethtown and Lititz, and the fourth Friday in Mount Joy and in Columbia, Marietta, & Wrightsville. On the third Friday of the month, Lancaster showcases its live music scene with Music Friday. Thorn Hill Vineyards in Lancaster also offers live music every Friday night.
Wine and Cheese Train
April opens the season for the Wine and Cheese Train on the Strasburg Rail Road, America’s oldest short-line railroad. Adults can take in the sights on a 45-minute train ride while enjoying a selection of wine, cheese, and crackers. The Strasburg Rail Road also operates a Murder Mystery Train, a fun-filled whodunit production. Families can enjoy the Easter Bunny Train the weekend of April 19-21.

The Easter Bunny Train is not the only Easter event in the Lancaster, PA, area. You can also meet the Easter Bunny at the Easter Bunny Breakfast at the Country Inn or at the Bunny Village at the Country Barn Market, both in Lancaster or at the Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA. Grace Church in Lititz offers an unusual twist on the Easter egg hunt with an Easter Egg drop–from a helicopter!–followed by an Easter party.
