Wabank

Just southwest of Lancaster City lies the Wabank neighborhood, pronounced /wah' bank/. This community has the quaint feel of the suburbs while being conveniently located on the edge of the city. 

The neighborhood features a blend of houses ranging from newly built townhomes to charming single-family homes. Recently, homes in Wabank have sold on average at prices between $130,000-$300,000. Many residents in this neighborhood prefer commuting by car over any other mode of transportation including walking and public transportation.

Depending on your exact location, Wabank residents belong to either the School District of Lancaster (SDoL) or Penn Manor School District, which are two of the largest school districts in Lancaster County. SDoL serves a large racially and socioeconomically diverse student body. Students greatly benefit from this as they can learn from a wide variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures. Penn Manor School District, on the other hand, is a smaller more rural school district with a student-teacher ratio of 16:1, guaranteeing that each student gets the attention and instruction needed to succeed. 

Wabank residents also enjoy the ambiance of living in a university town as it's only a few miles from one of Pennsylvania’s top state universities—Millersville University. Students are often seen out and about at hotspots like Spring House Brewing Co.—a local craft brewery—and at the nearby cinema, Regal Manor, which gives the area a lively feel! 

For groceries, many residents prefer shopping at John Herr's Village Market, a local favorite since 1919 where shoppers can find top quality products and old-fashioned courtesy, or at the Weis Markets in the Manor Shopping Center off of Millersville Pike.
