Witmer

Northeast of Lancaster City lies the suburban Witmer neighborhood in East Lampeter, a township in Lancaster County.

The neighborhood is full of small and medium-sized single-family homes built between 1970 and 1999 with a median real estate price of $304,447. A fun fact about the neighborhood according to research conducted by NeighborhoodScout.com is that Witmer "has more Swiss and Greek ancestry people living in it than nearly any neighborhood in America."

A highly residential area, Witmer is right next to Routes 23, 30, 340, and 772, which makes it an ideal neighborhood to commute from. Avid golfers will be happy to learn that the Lancaster Country Club is situated nearby. The country club features an Olympic-sized swimming pool as well as a premier golf course that hosted the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open Championship.

Witmer is located within the Conestoga Valley School District, a highly rated, suburban school district known for its excellent music education program. Conestoga Valley students regularly post some of the highest regional test scores. The school district also enjoys a particularly high academic growth rate compared to its Pennsylvania peers. 

Driving 15 minutes southwest will take residents into the heart of Lancaster City, which features a great selection of dining, entertainment, shopping. 

Witmer is also only 1-2 miles away from the village of Bird-in-Hand, which is widely regarded as Amish country. The village has a collection of restaurants that feature homestyle-cooking and local goodies. For example, Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant and Smorgasbord is known for its Pennsylvania Dutch Food and hometown hospitality. A three-mile drive will take you to Dutch Wonderland, a 48-acre kids’ amusement park featuring 35 rides, or the Amish Experience, a Lancaster-county designated heritage site that provides tours of Amish farmlands and a glimpse into the Amish way of life.
