Northeast of Lancaster City lies the suburban Witmer neighborhood in East Lampeter, a township in Lancaster County.
The neighborhood is full of small and medium-sized single-family homes built between 1970 and 1999 with a median real estate price of $304,447. Witmer is also only 1-2 miles away from the village of Bird-in-Hand, which is widely regarded as Amish country. The village has a collection of restaurants that feature homestyle-cooking and local goodies. For example, Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant and Smorgasbord is known for its Pennsylvania Dutch Food and hometown hospitality. A three-mile drive will take you to Dutch Wonderland, a 48-acre kids’ amusement park featuring 35 rides, or the Amish Experience, a Lancaster-county designated heritage site that provides tours of Amish farmlands and a glimpse into the Amish way of life.
