This farmer’s market is a fifth-generation family business that started in 1925 as a poultry auction and has evolved into so much more. Open every Tuesday, Root’s Country Market is filled with individual stand vendors selling fresh produce, Amish baked goods, fresh local meat, deli meat, local and imported produce, as well as non-grocery items such as antiques, crafts, jewelry, and collectibles. Mount Hope Estate

This historic estate was established in 1779 by the Grubb family and became their Summer home for four generations. While the Estate still includes the original Federal Period Mansion, it has expanded to include the Mount Hope Winery, Swashbuckler Brewing Company, and Rumspringa Brewing Company, where tastings and tours are offered regularly. In addition, restaurants such as the Divine Swine, In & Out BBQ, and the Anchor & Mermaid Tavern are within easy walking distance. But Mount Hope Estate is more than just a beer and wine producer; it is also an entertainment venue. The Dinner Theater in the Mansion puts on shows such as “Murder at Mount Hope,” an interactive dinner mystery, while the Barn & Barrel hosts festivals such as Full Moon Comedy Nights.
Mount Hope is also the home of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, open weekends from August through October. Each weekend has a different theme, complete with music, dancing, merchandise, entertainment, food, contests, and other activities.
