Sheep Shearing Days
For another taste of Amish farm life, take in one of the sheep shearing demonstrations at the Amish Farm and House. Held at the farm’s stone bank barn, the demonstration features a professional sheep shearer as he removes the sheep’s thick winter coat in preparation for the hot summer–a process that is surprisingly quick and painless! But sheep shearing is not the only Amish farm experience on display. Other farm demonstrators and artisans include a farrier, weavers, spinners, a woodcarver, a clay artist. If you work up an appetite, walk over to the Amish Chicken BBQ stand for some grilled chicken, ribs, sandwiches, and Amish specialties such as sauerkraut, whoopie pies, and homemade ice cream. Cap off the day with a ride in an Amish buggy!
