Donegal School District
This school district is one of seventeen districts in Lancaster County. It is located in northwestern Lancaster County. It includes the boroughs of Marietta and Mount Joy, and East Donegal Township. As well as roughly one-third of Mount Joy Township. Of these municipalities, Mount Joy is the biggest. It is in close proximity to Lancaster, York, Harrisburg, and Hershey. Also, has easy access to the train line from Harrisburg to Philadelphia. So, it is ideal for commuters. Its location gives the school district the many benefits of a more urban setting. While retaining a small-town atmosphere. All set amongst beautiful rolling hills and farmland. The mission of the school district is to develop each learner as a productive citizen. One who thoughtfully meets personal, community, and global challenges. The school department strives to engage all members of the community. To provide a well-articulated curriculum that results in high achievement. From early childhood through secondary education. In addition, this means supporting quality facilities and learning resources. As well as maintaining positive morale.

Donegal School District is a highly rated, smaller school district. It is serving just under 3,000 students. The school rating website, Niche.com, gives this district an “A-” rating. State testing results show that 48% of its students are proficient in math. 67% in reading. Across the district, the student-teacher ratio is 17:1. The district consists of 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. The district offers a gifted program. And, at the high school, Advanced Placement courses.
