Warwick School District
The Warwick School District draws from three communities in the Lancaster, PA, area. The Borough of Lititz as well as the townships of Warwick and Elizabethtown. The public school system in Warwick is highly rated. And well regarded by students, parents, teachers, and the community at large. In fact, it rates within the top 100 school systems in Pennsylvania in three different areas: best places to teach, safest schools, and best schools overall.
The quality of education by Warwick schools is evident by their consistent performance in statewide testing. According to state testing results, 56% of Warwick students are proficient in math and 76% are proficient in reading, and the high school graduation rate is 96%. These proficiency results have remained well above average for several years. In addition, students from the Warwick schools are well above the state average for metrics of college and career readiness. Warwick schools offer a gifted program and Advanced Placement courses.
The superintendent runs the Warwick School District. The Warwick Board of School Directors and the superintendent's administrative staff. appoints him/her. The Board is made up of 9 elected community members. These members assess the educational needs of the community and design policy to meet those needs.
The Board works with the community and the schools through four standing committees: Education, Student Activities, Building and Property, and Finance and Legal. Each committee holds board members, community members, teachers, and members of the school administration. The varied members of each committee provide a unique perspective when it comes to issues concerning the schools. While the committees do not make decisions, they make recommendations to the Board for their consideration and action.
